Bob's Bucket List

Bike for Bob

In July of 2014, Bob Walz was diagnosed with cancer. After seeking out a second opinion, Bob and his wife, Nelva learned that treatment options were limited and during the journey home she asked him if there was anything on his bucket list. Initially he said there was nothing else he wanted to do, but after a few hours of quiet thought he said there was something on his bucket list that he wanted to accomplish.

He wanted to bike across America.

They did some research and found an organization that would facilitate the ride by providing a route, lodging and assistance along the way. Every weekend they trained, riding as much as 20 miles every Saturday and Sunday.

Then winter arrived in Chicago and they were unable to continue training. When spring finally arrived, Bob's health started to decline and he was unable to start training again.

Bob passed away September 7th, 2015 at the age of 66.
